T1 & T4	Detail to the trivia question in our fourth quarter 2008 Newsletter. Both have Webster readings of below 5. These are not stable tempers and will harden with time so must be curved usually within 30 days.
	SSF can heat treat the metal to T5 of T6 but the effects on anything pre-finished are the same as with metal being annealed (see above).
T52	Will have a Webster reading of 6 to 8. This is a stable temper and an excellent option except for very large extrusions and tight radii.
T5 or T6	Technically T5 will have a Webster reading of 7 to 11 however it often runs higher. T6 has a minimum reading of 12. SOME shapes
	can be curved hard if the radius is slight, however this is rarely the case with larger shapes.
Annealed aluminum	Aluminum that has been tempered to a T5 or T6 hardness and then annealed or de-tempered cannot be re-tempered. It does work
	harden and hardens with time to the point of being very rigid but should not be used for load-bearing applications.

The aluminum extrusion first passes through a knurling machine. Two sets of steel blades cut serrated edges at 4 locations within the insubar cavity. The serrated edges or knurls create a mechanical lock between the aluminum cavity and the insubar profile. The two insubar profiles are immediately inserted into the knurled aluminum cavity

The combined aluminum and composite section passes through the computer controlled crimping or rolling machine. This machine uses a series of steel discs, which the composite section passes through, pushing the aluminum into the insubar. This creates a mechanical lock that holds the composite section together.
